The holdings of the Anhaltische Landesbücherei, which have belonged to the Dessau-Roßlau Municipal Archives since 2019, contain approximately 115,000 volumes. These include historical collections (Fürst-Georg-Bibliothek, Hofbibliothek, Anhaltische Behördenbibliothek, Sammlung Seelmann), a large regional history collection on the territory of the former Free State of Anhalt, but also current literature on the topics of regional, art and cultural history, plus 50 periodicals and yearbooks on current subscription. The Anhaltische Landesbücherei manages the collection of artists' books of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. It publishes the "Bibliography on the History of Anhalt".
